Guided Tours

The resort is located in three diverse eco-systems: the Bazaruto Archipelago, a Wildlife Conservation Area and a Marine National Park in a tidal estuary. As a result, there are a lot of things to do in and around the resort as well as in the adjoining wildlife area and the islands in the archipelago. Many are available to the intrepid guest with a good pair of walking shoes while others are only accessible by boat or four wheel drive vehicle. We have a number of tours which our experienced crew will guide you on where you can explore the vast and varied wonderland around and beyond the resort.

Sunset Cruise

Take a leisurely cruise at sunset around the estuary while sipping on a delicious cocktail. Glide next to the mangrove swamps and view the abundant bird life on the shore and the sandbar islands in the estuary. If you are lucky, watch the dolphins come into the estuary to feed or simply sit back, relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Snacks included. Bar service available on board.

Early Bird Banque Island Walk

Take a refreshing stroll around Banque Island before breakfast and refresh your soul . . . and work up an appetite.

Banque (pronounced Bung Where) is an uninhabited island with a perimeter of 2km which makes it ideal for a casual stroll where you can watch the birds and crabs go about their business in the early morning and pick up shells on its unspoilt beach. A great way to start the day.

Early Bird Drive to World's View

Hop on our game drive vehicle before breakfast and take a meandering drive through the wildlife sanctuary to World’s View – a spectacular cliff overlooking the Bazaruto Archipelago. On the way, catch a glimpse of shy duiker and other wildlife as they wake to a new day. Marvel at the birdlife that abounds early in the day and then enjoy a refreshing drink at World’s View while taking in the breath-taking vista. Highly recommended.

Snorkelling at Margaruque Island

Jump on a boat and go to the western shore of Margaruque Island (20 mins) where there are natural reefs and prolific fish life. Drift on the surface as the tide carries you over the reef and take in the marine activity below you. While you are in the water, our attentive staff will set up your umbrellas, tables and a sumptuous feast for a well-earned beach picnic afterwards. An easy dive and a great way to spend the day.

Snorkelling at 2 Mile Reef

2 Mile Reef is a diver’s paradise, teaming with large schools of tropical fish, with crystal-clear waters and a range of dazzling soft coral ridges and reefs to explore. It’s no wonder it has been called the Aquarium because it is just like that – swimming in an aquarium. Take a one hour boat trip to either Benguerra Island or Pansy Island (weather dependent) where our staff will set up your picnic site and then take you on a short boat trip to 2 mile reef. After an incredible snorkelling experience, enjoy a beautiful picnic on the beach and even do some dune surfing. Not to be missed – this is a must.

Santa Carolina Island

Paradise Island, also known as Santa Carolina, is the only completely deserted island in the Bazaruto Archipelago, boasting an old abandoned hotel dating back to the early 1950’s. It is a true rock island with deep channels, three beautiful beaches and coral reefs close to the shore. The island is regarded as the ‘gem’ of the islands forming the Bazaruto Archipelago – not only for its beauty, but also for the reefs close by which offer some of the best snorkeling in the archipelago.  Wander around and explore the island at your leisure and then have a beautiful picnic on the rocks overlooking the azure waters and nearby reefs. The trip to the island takes about 2 hours by boat, but it is well worth it for the more adventurous souls.

Scuba Diving

Scuba diving tours can be arranged through the resort. We use Dive Bazaruto who offer a professional service at reasonable prices. They offer PADI courses and will take you to all the popular sites in the Bazaruto Archipelago and can even tailor-make a dive tour for you. Contact our hotel manager to book a dive with them.

Game Drive & Picnic Tour

Enjoy a guided game drive through the wildlife conservation area adjoining the resort and look out for eland, wildebeest, kudu, nyala, bushbuck, duiker, zebra and waterbuck. Stop off at a secluded hide overlooking Lake None for some excellent bird watching and then visit a fishing village at Chingonguane where the locals will cut down fresh coconuts for you to quench your thirst. End it off with a delicious al fresco picnic at World’s View overlooking the Bazaruto Archipelago. A must do trip for nature lovers.

Deep Sea Fishing

With warm waters and calm bay conditions, the Bazaruto Archipelago attracts many of the world’s most popular gamefish including black, blue and striped marlin, sailfish, wahoo, dorado, yellowfin tuna, king mackerel, kingfish, barracuda, prodigal son, rockcod, snapper and a vast array of other gamefish. Our experienced skippers will take you to the popular fishing spots nearby and put you on the fish. The rest is up to you.
